My telephone wiring is, I think, slightly unusual and I would like it to improve to meet the needs of routers, broadband and wifi. I'm a software engineer by profession and have worked with computers for 30+ years and that would be reasonably happy doing most of the work I do not want to mess with.
So my wiring consists of
a gray unbranded junction box outside the front door at the ground level
a white cable leads up the outside of the wooden door
a British Telecom branded junction box attached to the hallway wall above a door about 2.75 in wide
On taking the lid off this, it contains a mass of cable spaghetti, with 2 cables leading out to the 2 BT sockets
